When to Call an Electrician
When to Call an Electrician
There are those who think when it's time to contact the electrician. However, often we believe we'll put it off or handle it ourselves. However, it is important to ensure that you do not put your family or yourself in danger. You must make sure your electrical problems are dealt with. Here are some signs to look out for to be aware of when to contact an electrician like us.
- Flashing lights: You realize that the light in your bedroom isn't as bright as it used to be, or the light flickers before turning on. If these sound familiar, then you may have an issue with the connection in the circuit. If tightening your bulbs and plugging in appliances to different outlets isn't working, then call an electrician!
- Bumps under your rug: Are you stepping on bumps in the rug because you're reaching for one cable to reach the next one? Get an electrician on the phone to talk about additional outlets for your space. You may not believe it, but it could be creating an unsafe living environment.
- It's warm to touch: Are your switches and outlets warm to the contact? Are there black marks around the switch's surface? Does it cause an occasional shock? It could be because of too much load for the circuit or else. Check it out in the event of a problem.
- Rust: Is your panel showing evidence of rust or water? It could be that something is wrong. The panel's condition is deteriorating and could affect the wiring connections. Contact us to check and get it cleaned.
- Older system: If you reside in an older residence, it could be that you have an older electrical system that can't stand up to today's electricity demands. Be sure that your electrical system is in good working order as it can be dangerous in the wrong situation.
- There are no three pronged outlets: You may find yourself thinking, "So I don't have three pronged outlets; what's the problem?" The issue is that if you don't have three outlets, your electrical system may not be grounded properly, which could be dangerous. It's also frustrating if you purchase an appliance that has three pronged outlets which won't connect!
- An octopus in every outlet: If you've got cords for plugs, or other multi-receptacle accessories that are tangled in your outlets, you're creating electrical problems that push your system to the limit of its capability. Discuss with an electrician the best way to deal with this issue to allow you to use the electronics you have without burning your system.
- Switches and outlets won't work: If you've got an entire set of outlets that aren't functioning or broken, you could have an unreliable connection somewhere in the middle. An electrician can fix the issue for you.
- In the dark: If your circuit breaker is tripping or a fuse goes out more often than you prefer, then your circuits may be drawing more power than they are able to provide. This could be dangerous, and you should consult an electrician as soon as you can.
Although you might think you'll be able to handle everything by yourself, be sure to place your safety first over all else. Electricians are well-trained to deal with these kinds of circumstances. Set up an appointment in case any of these situations seem familiar to you, and our electricians will be to the rescue!
